I'm Nicola Sabin, a herbalist, writer, and student of the seasons, dedicated to walking alongside those navigating complex health journeys. My own path was shaped by lived experience, after developing Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) in 2021. I turned toward the green world with more purpose than ever before. Nature became my compass. And now, it's part of how I support others finding their way.
I hold a Master Herbalist Diploma from Wild Rose College, and continue to deepen my studies through CommonWealth Herbs school and the Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism. I've also trained in Pulse, Tongue and Facial Assessment, and hold a certificate in POTS Rehabilitation for Healthcare Professionals, bridging the wisdom of traditional herbalism with a lived nuanced understanding of chronic health.
I'm a Trustee of The Herb Society, where I lead the herbal Book Club and coordinate our reviews programme, helping readers connect with the living, breathing world of herbalism through words and story. I also serve as the Information Officer and secretary for the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners (URHP) where I sit on the council as a student member, designer of e-Herbalist and help shape the annual conference.
Alongside this, I volunteer with PoTS UK as a peer support group co-host, holding space for others navigating life with autonomic dysfunction. It's a role close to the heart, rooted in empathy, lived experience, and a deep belief in the importance of being truly heard.
My writing has been featured in Herbs Magazine, URHP e-Herbalist, Kitchen Garden Magazine, Without Borders, and Plant Healer Quarterly. Each article weaves together story, seasonal rhythm, and herbal wisdom, the way I believe all good medicine does.
Through it all, I believe in listening to the body, the land, the seasons, and the stories we carry. Herbalism isn't just what I do. It's how I live.
